Today I visited UConn for the 1st time. It's my top choice! It was so exciting, or "invigorating" as they kept saying at the opening meeting. I want to major in biomedical engineering. It's pretty up-and-coming but also it's really the future. It combines computer technologies and circuits with medicine. For example they're developing cancer detection technology to be able to detect ovarian and breast cancer earlier. Also another application they showed was Oscar Pistorius's artificial running legs, and automated glucose diabetes meter. It was so cool! I'm such a nerd. One of the biomed profs told me there's about 100 students/year. And the way biomed works is after sophomore year it breaks into 4 tracks: biomaterials, biomechanics, biosystems, and bioinformatics. Bioinformatics is apparently by far the hardest. Last year 1 student took that track, this year 3. Sounds like a lot of math and a challenge. It's calling my name.
More on UConn later. Because it's amazing and I love it!
